I’m going to watch ‘Girls’ and I will probably like it, but let’s all admit that there’s something seriously messed up about the fact that a show essentially about four privileged white girls is being heralded as some sort of cultural revelation. And I don’t think ‘Girls’ in itself is the issue, and I certainly hope they don’t start making all the periphery characters non-white to appease people like myself because half-assed tokenism is the worst, but I guess I’m just waiting, praying for the day, when I can watch a good show that the media likes about nonwhite women who are also smart and complicated
— something someone else said, and now I’m done,
